Freedom is the recognition of necessity

Krishna: ya
Pradeep: me too

Krishna: i think effect of ur status msg is on the subconscious
Pradeep: what do you mean
Sent at 3:21 PM on Tuesday
Krishna: i mean the meaning is not immediately obvious
Pradeep: I odnt think it's that profound
:)
Krishna: but sounds right
Pradeep: here's my explanation
Krishna: hehe
Pradeep: the society in which we live imposes certain laws , correct ??
Krishna: rite
Pradeep: the laws ensure that one person doesnt encroach on another's property or freedom
in doing so , the society or government is actually recognising every person's right to his own property
and this right of every person to his own property is a necessity
not sure if I got that right

Krishna: so the ultimate neccessities (as deemed by society) are made as rights?
Pradeep: yes
lemme ask you this , what is of ultimate importance to you ?
Krishna: existence
Pradeep: just mere existence ?
dont you mean existence in a non-prejudiced socity where you have equal oppurtunity to survive and thrive
Sent at 3:28 PM on Tuesday
Krishna: dont think that'll ever happen... so thats ok with me
i mean i dont take it for granted that
all are equal and thriving
Pradeep: ok, but thats the ideal right , though not what we see around us
Krishna: ya
Pradeep: so that existence in a non-prejudiced society where blah blah is your necessity
now when some form of government /body recognises that necessity , and begins to make laws that will ensure that your necessity is provided and protected for
thats where they are guaranteeing your freedom
Krishna: gotit
Pradeep: hmm I hope thats what Hegel meant
Sent at 3:32 PM on Tuesday
Krishna: its pretty profound compared to Minimum wage monkey!
Pradeep: hehe so it seems
